UPDATE: The collaboration has been officially confirmed! Check out all the details here.
Listen up, fashion folks: we have it on good authority that Jason Wu is collaborating with Target, but is the collection dropping this fall?
This morning the @TargetStyle account tweeted: “Who is the next #TargetDesigner? Get your sleuthing gear on, we’re about to share some clues.” Well, it’s time to reveal that a source confirmed to us that Wu is definitely working with the mass retailer on a diffusion collection. We’ve even seen sketches! We’re not entirely sure that Wu’s collection is the one that is being announced tomorrow, but we’re willing to hedge our bets.
The first clue is this: “#TargetDesigner Clue 1: the new @TargetStyle designer began sketching the future of fashion at 5 years old.” Wu designed and sewed doll clothes as a child. Hmmm. Looks like this Twitter game definitely fits so far!
Another reason we think Wu is the designer in question is that it’s been a while since the company has come out with a Go International collection. Target’s last two collaborations — Calypso and Missoni — were part of the Designer Collaborations project. As a young up-and-comer, Wu would certainly be a part of Go International, which has not offered up anything since its greatest hits rerelease in March. Also, this is a pairing made in Michelle Obama fashion heaven.
We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see if we’ll be wearing Wu by year’s end, but we can tell you that you’ll certainly be buying his designs at your neighborhood Target soon. In the mean time, check back here as the clues roll in!

The fourth clue: “#TargetDesigner Clue 4: “I’m obsessed with details, they make a garment special.” Have you figured it out yet?”
And the fifth: “#TargetDesigner Clue 5: Senior year of high school in #Paris? Oui, oui. Our next designer has international influence.”
