Coca-Cola is the king of branding, and the last few years have seen them foster some pretty creative partnerships between their Diet Coke and such style fixtures as Patricia Field and British e-tailer Asos. The latest and undoubtedly greatest of these partnerships is Coca Cola Light’s collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld.
In typical Lagerfeld form, the Kaiser didn’t merely slap his bon visage on the bottle, he designed an exclusive opaque aluminum bottle topped with a shocking pink cap and featuring an unmistakably Karl silhouette — black pants, black coat, white collar, and ponytail. We’ll be honest — our favorite part of the bottle might just be the color scheme.
Naturally, he also shot the ad campaign, which features Lagerfeld favorite Baptiste Giacobini serving a black-gloved Coco Rocha the eponymous bottle. Rocha, staying true to the Karl brand, wears black pleated shorts and a white collared shirt complete with a black neck accessory — but most importantly, she’s sipping her Coca-Cola Light from a Lalique crystal goblet. According to WWD, “Lagerfeld has long been a fan of diet cola, and says he prefers to drink it in a delicate crystal goblet to accentuate the taste.”
Famed French boutique Colette already has Karl Coca-Cola Light bottles on sale for 3.50 Euros, but will eventually offer a “limited edition boxed version of the bottle, with matching bottle opener.” That last one will run you a sweet 47 Euros — or $64 according to current rates.
