Cute kids + high fashion appeals to our interests. And how cute was the little kid who walked the Chanel runway? So cute! Apparently, this is also profitable. The New York Times reports that in Europe, children’s apparel is outperforming the rest of the market. Says the Times:
Business-wise, it makes a lot of sense: Kids’ garments take a beating and their owners grow out of them fast, meaning that as long as there are children, there will always be a need for more children’s clothing. And parents with money can be persuaded to spend it on high-quality clothing for their children.
Tons of luxury labels carry children’s clothes, and Gucci and Fendi will be rolling out their own collections soon. Stella McCartney, who designed two awesome kids’ collections for Gap, is debuting a pint-sized line for her eponymous label next month. But some (well, most) of these mini-fashion confections are pretty pricey (especially considering how little fabric is actually used).
Would you buy any of these items for your tyke?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
