Not content to watch its competitors make fashion happen online, Amazon has launched a new members-only fashion website. Problem is, we’re not members, so we don’t know that much about it. But allegedly, the site, called MyHabit, aims to save its members 60 percent on clothing.
Mashable reports that MyHabit will feature clothing from Doo.Ri, Mary-Kate and Asley Olsen‘s line Elizabeth and James, Halston and Vera Wang in its first sale, which is modeled after other private designer discount sales like Gilt or Rue La La. Shipping is free (woo!), but the difference with MyHabit is that when you return items to the store, you get a credit to shop on Amazon.com or Endless.com, the company’s other clothing retail website.
It’s not the most innovative strategy for e-commerce in the world, but it has proven effective for other companies. Gilt Groupe is now one of the most powerful names in online retailing, and it makes sense to try to get in on the fun while it lasts.
Membership isn’t exclusive — you can sign up here to get access to all the fun. The question is, will you?
