Pendleton To Launch Line For ‘Younger Customers’

When Pendleton partnered with Opening Ceremony, we were so excited about the sartorial possibilities. Vanessa wore that awesome jacket on Gossip Girl, and we swooned. But alas! Now Pendleton is rolling out a new line for “a younger customer!” Yes!

While Pendleton can skew a bit traditional, their new Portland Collection shows a “new strategy with a new consumer in mind. It’s more progressive in fashion. The fit is trimmer, for a younger customer.” We’re that customer! Designers Nathaniel Crissman, Rachel Turk and John Blasioli were tapped to create the line, which will be shown next month and be available in stores next fall.

The design trio looked back at the Pendleton archives for inspiration, and then put a modern twist on the heritage brand’s classic offerings. But don’t expect the Portland Collection to have a lower price point — shirts will go for around $200, while coats will run as much as $700. The collection will also feature pants, dresses, ties, bags and other accessories.

No buys will be made until the line is unveiled in January, but Pendleton expects the collection to be picked up by retailers like Saks and Barney’s Co-op.
