Certified sexy lady Penelope Cruz and her younger sister, actress and dancer Mónica Cruz are teaming up with Agent Provocateur on a diffusion line of sure-to-be-scintillating underthings called L’Agent.
The line marks the company’s first foray into a lower-priced market, with pieces ringing in at an average of $64, in comparison to the main collection’s $152 — a relief for those of us who have the occasional urge to channel Dita von Teese, but don’t want to blow $700 on a corset, however glamorous it may be. WWD reports that Mónica first entered into talks of a design partnership after being chosen to front the brand’s current campaign, and pulled her sister on board because of their mutual appreciation for lacy, racy undergarments.
Unlike the main line, L’Agent will be sold through department stores like Bloomingdale’s and Barneys New York rather than stocked in Agent Provocateur stores or on the official website. They are still working out details such as which specific retailers will carry the product, but they do know there will be seven or eight pieces (think bras, undies, and, yes corsets) produced in each of the 15 styles they’ve dreamed up.
And the Cruz sisters aren’t just in this for a quick buck — the partnership will reportedly last at least five years and will involve their participation in every aspect of the design process. Though that’s not to say plenty of bucks won’t be made — the company projects that L’Agent will generate 50% of the company’s revenue within five years.
