We will start off this post by saying that we love the Proenza Schouler PS1 bag. Like, a lot. It’s a great bag. We’re jealous of our friends who have them. We want one (Hanukkah starts in two weeks, people!). But the brand’s new video promoting the PS1’s entree into the world of patent leather is more than a little strange.
Is it trying to be art? Is it parody? Is it parody art? We do not know the answer to these important questions. We just know it looks like a really awful student film. The camcorder-like film quality, bizarre editing and dissonant music are just too odd a combination for us to handle.
Oh right, and the plot! Well, “plot.” Model Danielle Zinaich clomps around a creepy wooded area in a hooded patent leather rain coat in search of the elusive patent PS1. Shots of the bag floating against a blown-out white background illustrate said elusiveness. When she finally finds the bag (next to a stream, of course), we see she is wearing murderer gloves! Then there’s a bunch of water shots, which are not as soothing as they sound.
Anyway, like we said, we love the PS1. And despite the creepy video, we are totally digging the new patent fabrication, which we’re told will be available exclusively on the Proenza Schouler website in a couple of weeks.
Watch and decide for yourself: creepy or cool?
