Queen Latifah Would Like To Bury The Term ‘Plus-Size’

Mark your calendars, America: Queen Latifah will launch her first clothing line with an appearance on HSN this August 27th. Just make sure you don’t call the clothes plus-size, and everyone will be OK.

The actor (and Covergirl, and rapper, and singer) decided to join the scrum of celebrities and fashion people who have gotten into the television shopping game recently with one goal in mind: to make and sell clothes that respect the whole of the spectrum of women’s bodies.

“I felt like larger girls were not respected, even though we are huge consumers,” Queen Latifah said. “I felt the marketplace didn’t respect us in the way it should. I was not going to step out with a clothing line that didn’t respect a fuller-figured woman or a curvaceous woman, and really all women.”

Women’s Wear Daily reports that larger girls, as Latifah calls them, spend over $100 billion on clothes every year, so we’re guessing this line will be a serious money maker. But the clothes are targeted at all women — look at a few samples from the line below and tell us if you’d buy any of it.
