Nine Muppet-y Must-Haves for Sesame Street’s 44th Anniversary

After all these years, it’s still the best thing on television.

Besides saving our mothers’ sanity, Sesame Street taught us the alphabet, how to count and the only acceptable method for eating baked goods. We may no longer need help remembering our ABCs — or how to gobble desserts by the handful — but Elmo, Zoe and friends will forever stand as bulbous-eyed reminders of better, diaper-clad days.

So give a nod to your childhood (and Big Bird) with Rebecca Minkoff‘s plunging-back trapeze dress. Channel Oscar the Grouch in fuzzy, olive-green Topshop shag. Or shrug on a woolly boyfriend coat to match Kermit.

If we were running an educational TV program using puppets, the lesson of the day would be this: Have fun with fashion. And more cookie.
