Sorry SJP: Of all the way-overdue footwear collaborations, this might win out. Converse announced yesterday that they had partnered up with The Simpsons to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary.
With many kids getting their first pair of Chucks before they’re even out of preschool, this collab has been a long time coming for the longest-running scripted television show in history. The first episode aired in 1989 and the show remains one of the best-loved TV series/pop culture reference banks in both the English and American-speaking worlds, appropriated by everyone from children to Jeremy Scott.
These official kicks of nostalgia will be part of The Simpsons’ Chuck Taylor All Star collection. They’ll come in sizes for men, women and children featuring all five members of the Simpsons clan plus a few of their infamous phrases. Our eyes are torn between Homer’s signature D’oh! and Marge’s towering cobalt hair.
All styles hit shelves at Journeys and Converse stores on June 15 (tomorrow) with price tags between $37 and $65. They’ll also be up on converse.com because they have the internet on computers now.
