At this rate we’re going to be spending winter all dressed up with nowhere to go. Or, rather, nowhere we can afford to go. At least coffee is cheaper hot than iced, so we can at least have a steaming mug to clasp as we huddle in a ball of faux fur, lush sheepskin, cartooney PJs, nostalgic prints and gothy platform oxfords. Layering is always in, right?
A further inkling that this is the scenario of our not-too-distant futures is Topshop’s Fall 2013 campaign. The 20-plus images feature almost that many coats, in all kinds of luxuriant fabrics and lengths, and enough graphic prints to brighten even the dreariest of winter mornings.
