This Paper Bag Jacket May Just Be The Worst Way To Spend $480

If you thought the $290 Jil Sander paper bag was bad, well, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

United Bamboo is now selling a $480 jacket by designer Aki Goto made of brown paper bags glued on to a vintage jacket and coated with varnish. Oh, and did we mention there are pieces of duct tape stuck to the front? Because there are pieces of duct tape stuck to the front.

Thing is, we don’t hate the concept — in fact, we could see Maison Martin Margiela making something like this work in a runway show. But between the sawed-off sleeves, the peeling seams, and the creased, wet-looking material, we can’t help but think that the jacket appears to be rotting right there on the model’s back.
