After the announcement of Brit It Girl Daisy Lowe’s capsule collection for French brand Morgan, London’s calling yet again! Range Rover’s 40th Anniversary party at the Kensington Palace’s Orangery in London yesterday not only unveiled the new and more attractive ‘baby’ Range Rover Evoque, the fête also celebrated the city’s most stylish mom, Victoria Beckham’s new position in the car company as Creative Design Executive. Major!
The marriage between Beckham’s aesthetic eye and utility cars that has a male-majority audience is one where we’re unsure if we’d want to forever hold our peace. But with the deserved success of her retail collection and the Beckham brand itself, there’s really little room for her to get anything wrong at this point — in fact, she’s already made her first venture by designing the red interior of the newly launched car.
At the party, Land Rover and Range Rover Design Director Gerry McGovern said that the decision was made in part because of Beckham’s understanding of luxury products and her loyalty to the car brand. He even flatters the designer by calling her “talented” and noting that she’s “extremely knowledgeable about great designs and trends.”
The Daily Mail reports that this Beckham mobile will hold a fabulous £30,000 to £45,000 price tag and will be available to deep-pocketed buyers this summer. What will the future of Range Rover designs hold under Posh’s purview? Perhaps giant Loubs to replace the wheels of the four-wheel drive car? We wouldn’t put it past her.
