It used to be that fashion designers only came out to play twice a year — and we were left to wonder it was they did for the other 50 weeks — but times have definitely changed. So wonder no more! With the collections in the rear view mirror, the fashion pack has packed their bags and hit the road to do some honest door-to-door selling. First stop: Jersey!
Yes, folks you heard that right. Trading the gilded tarmac for the Parkway, designer Zac Posen braved the Garden State to promote his new wallet-friendly collection for Target. “This is important,” he explained from behind the requisite red plastic cart. “This is like market research. I don’t see the difference between buying Kool-Aid here and buying a tie-dye T-shirt at Bergdorf.”
But Zac’s hardly the only one braving strip malls and mixing things up with the locals. Word is Isaac Mizrahi has tripped it to Nashville for their annual spring fashion show and Oscar de la Renta was spotted schmoozing with the ladies who lunch in Toronto. Guess times are still pretty tough. But, we can’t say we’re not enjoying picturing Zac navigating a sea o’ Snookies or Isaac, for that matter, trying to coordinate his catwalk to country music.
Kind of puts a smile on our frosty pitcher of Kool Aid.
