3 Summer Solutions For Your Combat Boot Obsession

Everybody these days loves a good combat boot: the ruggedness, the laces, and the cracked black leather, all ready to kick the day’s booty. They’re fantastic with ripped jeans or a girly dress. But, as we finally enter spring, our favorite footwear is becoming a little heavy and definitely a little hot. So, as we reluctantly put our Dr. Martens, Fryes, or other military must-haves into storage, our tough tootsies are itching for some air.

So, what next? What could possibly offer a distressed and durable alternative without seeming old news, or worse yet, boring? We’ve all done the dainty ballet flat and the gladiator sandal, but both of these are becoming a little more than tired and frankly don’t give us the edge to even begin to compare to our coveted combats.

Alexander Wang may have the solution for our springtime shoe dilemma. His canvas mirte-laced boot offers the shape and overall feel — fold-down zippers and lovely laces maintain the toughness of our terrain-friendly, wintry picks. The breathable fabric and peep-toe is a perfect option for warmer weather and the stripe offers a cheeky and cheerful shift from our darker cold weather palette.

For a sleeker look to go with ladylike dresses — or dare I even propose — a khaki pant, United Bamboo’s lace-up boot is a fabulous option. Although the zippers and heavy soles are absent in these shoes, with the simple lacing and rounded toe, one can still feel prepared to pop around their locale without having any trouble or stubbed toes.

Obviously, as nights out are a must when the weather turns mild, Acne has just the shoe to accompany evening frolics. The Maya Wedge Sandal is overtly sexy and definitely to be taken seriously with its stacked platform and strappings that are absolutely to die. Grommets and ankle fastenings are reminiscent of our closeted combats, while their zipped back puts the ‘fun’ in functional.

These alternatives are definitely worth facing April showers and puddle hopping to a nearby boutique to give us our monthly shoe purchase, which surely will last us at least the season.
