PHOTOS: 5 Best Dressed Stars On The SAG Red Carpet
Another Sunday night, another awards show. This time, the stars came out to celebrate each other at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where a decidedly safe red carpet provided but a few outstanding ensembles.
It wasn’t that people looked bad, though
some certainly did, it’s just that some of our favorite style stars played it a little safe. That said, our picks for best dressed include no less than three first timers to any of our lists — and one stunner of a Carolina Herrera gown.
We weren't totally sold on her
revealing Versace gown for the Golden Globes, but January Jones' ornate number by Carolina Herrera was, hands down, a perfect ten. The cut, the colors, and the delicate detailing make the dress a stunner in and of itself, but Jones' elegant updo and smoky but simple make-up elevate this look to red carpet perfection.
Most stars played it relatively safe on tonight's red carpet, which is why we have to give 15-year-old True Grit star
Hailee Steinfeld some extra credit for her brightly striped gown from Prada's Spring 2011 monkey-filled collection. It's a bold dress, but perfectly playful for a girl her age -- and we're loving the hot pink nails and matching lipstick.
It's official: red and pink is a red carpet trend. Following on the heels of co-star
Natalie Portman's Viktor & Rolf gown, Kunis stepped out in a scarlet, rose, and black dress from Alexander McQueen's 2011 resort collection. Belts aren't always our favorite detail on a dress -- we think they're a kind of easy way to create a shape -- but the complementary pattern on Kunis' was thoughtful and well-suited, as were her natural waves and single Cartier bracelet.
Julia Stiles' navy and white ombre gown by Monique Lhuillier was eye-catching in all the right ways: simple in cut, bold in color, and perfectly accessorized. Vintage jewels and beautifully curled hair rounded out her standout ensemble.
Tina Fey has had a rough go of the red carpet, but she hit it out of the park tonight in this red column gown by Oscar de la Renta. We could have done without the applique flowers at the top, but Fey fit perfectly into its classic shape. Also, we love those earrings!
