SPOTTED: Proof That Pointy Flats Look Bad On Everyone

Every now and then one of our favorite style stars will make a sartorial decision we can’t help but regret on their behalf. Sometimes its a bad dress, an unsightly ‘do, or garish makeup — but today’s offender is Alexa Chung and her studded, strappy, pointy-toed beige flats.

We love Alexa Chung, her style, her Madewell collection and her ability to make even clogs look good, but we just cannot wrap our heads around these shoes. While writing this, we spent some time trying to think of people who could pull off an aggressively pointed flat — and came up empty handed. Kate Moss could probably do them some justice, but they generally look cheap, uncomfortable, and have a tendency to make even the hippest of wearers look dowdy. Do you agree?

Honestly, I don’t have a problem with the pointiness. It’s the studs and straps (on a flat!) that I don’t like.

I dont think pointy flats look bad. Alexa’s shoes are a little too much. They would’ve looked better if they were plain ( the color is nice too).

I like the shoes but, I think the dress is the problem. The dress is dowdy and boring.

Honestly this isn’t fair pairing pointy toed flats with dresses will look bad it doesn’t mean the shoe is bad though. You pair pointy toed with long jeans and they look fine.

The problem here isn’t the shoes, but what she chose to pair them with. Pointy flats look best with wide-leg pants that cover part of the shoe. If you see the whole shoe, your feet look big and elfish—not attractive. Plus, they make your legs look stumpy because they’re flat.

Even if you kept the straps, they’re OK. The studs are what ruin it. They aren’t even extremely pointy.
And yes, the dress is a poor choice. The dress does not fit her right.

I do wear pointy flats myself, as it’s nearly impossible to make my feet look big.
