In the past year, the world’s 10 top-earning models made a combined $112 million. $45 million of that was made by Gisele Bündchen alone.
Coachella is all about music, obviously, but it’s also all about FASHION. The festival is a veritable celeb playground, crawling with actors and musicians and reality stars all in their weekend-in-the-desert best.
What can you do in three months? Start learning a new language? Read the assorted works of Leo Tolstoy? Orbit the sun from the surface of Mercury? Well, if you’re supermodel Miranda Kerr, you give birth to a child, tweet pictures of yourself breastfeeding said child, and turn up on the red carpet at a Victoria’s Secret event looking like you never had that child in the first place.
Like any good new media-loving brand, Dolce & Gabbana has its very own YouTube channel. And for this, we are thankful, because it means we get to watch Alessandra Ambrosio backstage at their spring/summer 2011 show in Milan.
On Thursday night in Paris, fashion’s biggest and boldest names turned up to celebrate Paris Vogue’s 90th anniversary at a masquerade ball thrown by editor Carine Roitfeld. Gisele Bündchen, Diane von Furstenberg, and Karolina Kurkova were a few of the recognizable faces — behind their masks, of course — and the theme gave them carte blanche to go all out, sartorially speaking.
Don’t call Miranda Kerr a one-trick pony, or any of the other Victoria’s Secret models for that matter. These girls may have gotten their first big hits stripping down to their bra and underwear, but they’re getting a little more credit these days. With high end ad campaigns and couture shoots under their designer belts, the days of Victoria’s Secret models as solely sex symbols seem long gone.
Last month, we heard rumors that Bravo was replacing Kelly Rowland as the host of its ailing “Project Runway” replacement, “The Fashion Show.” Initial reports pointed to Brazilian stunner and Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, but the real replacement has blown even our wildest expectations out of the water.
Yesterday we wrote a post wondering whether or not Glamour had retouched its trio of bikini clad cover girls, also known as Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, Sport’s Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model Brooklyn Decker, and plus-size supermodel Crystal Renn. We e-mailed Glamour for comment after our post went up and now Glamour’s editor in chief Cindi Leive has responded.
Now, don’t get us wrong — it’s painfully obvious that Crystal Renn, Alessandra Ambrosio and Brooklyn Decker all look super striking posing for the June issue of Glamour. More, we’ve got to applaud the trio of babes for having the guts to sport bikinis with gusto (never an easy task, right?) and the forward-thinking mag for representing different body types on their cover. But based on these behind the scenes candids from the on location shoot, it looks as if the art director took some liberties with his retouching.
It’s a well-known fact that if you’re born in Brazil you have a 982734893278 percent better chance at becoming a model than any other country in the world. The spring issue of Hercules celebrates this fact with their Brazillian-themed spread featuring Alessandra Ambrosio, Aline Weber (of those terrifying American Eagle ads), and six more of their gorgeous countrywomen. Styled by Keegan Singh, the group was more than happy to strip down for the black and white snaps and, unsurprisingly, the results are both NSFW and gorgeous.
Reps for Alessandra Ambrosio have confirmed that the Brazilian beauty will be the face of brand’s fall 2010 advertising campaign. Good choice, Moschino team.
More important than the music at uber-hipster sound festival Coachella is what one wears to it. But while Coachella brings out the crazy in everyone’s style, models during their off-hours are always the most interesting. Agyness Deyn, Daisy Lowe, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and more spent all weekend doing their best Kate Moss.
Do you watch The Fashion Show? Neither do we, but our ears perked up nonetheless when we heard that Alessandra Ambrosio might be replacing current host Kelly Rowland.
Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio recently took part in a Glamour magazine cover shoot with Sports Illustrated model Brooklyn Decker and reigning plus-size queen Crystal Renn. Last week, ABC aired an image from the shoot, likening Ambrosio’s figure to a “pre-pubescent teenager,” despite the fact that the model is a 29-year-old mother.
