Yesterday McQ, Alexander McQueen‘s lower priced line, held its very first runway show — and what a show it was.
Hermione Granger…a punk? Well, not quite, but Emma Watson certainly went for the punk vibe on last night’s GQ Man of the Year Awards red carpet.
Sarah Burton has big shoes to fill. Really big lobster claw-shaped shoes. In May Burton was named Alexander McQueen‘s successor as creative director of his eponymous house. Burton’s first solo show for McQueen occurred in June during Milan Men’s Fashion Week. The show was well-received, but Burton’s true test will come next Tuesday as she debuts her first women’s show for the Alexander McQueen label.

We might still be suffering from the effects of nostalgia after seeing Hole last night at New York City’s Terminal 5, but boy are we loving Alexander McQueen’s Fall collection for McQ. Featuring no shortage of lace-up boots; a motley crew of mixed plaids, stripes, patterns and patches; and the Generation X staple flowy, floral dress, this collection takes us right back to when Kurt and Courtney reigned supreme and the Discman on which we played “Pretty On The Inside” was the hot new musical device on the block. Though they don’t cite any sources, Fashionising.com reports that the Alexander McQueen label is collaborating with America’s favorite Fame Monster on a collection for Spring 2011.
