What will everyone wear?
From Taylor Swift’s many costume changes to Nicki Minaj’s homage to Bob Ross, tonight’s American Music Awards featured no shortage of high-wattage stage looks — and we’ve got them all right here.
Any event that manages to wrangle Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Brad Goreski, Heidi Klum, a Backstreet Boy, and K-Pop sensation Psy on the same red carpet already has our stamp of approval, but when the list of designers includes Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan, and current apple of Kristen Stewart’s sartorial eye, Zuhair Murad, you know you’ve got a winner. Welcome to tonight’s 40th anniversary American Music Awards.
Music’s biggest and brightest stars showed up at the American Music Awards last night wearing versions of their standard red carpet uniforms.
Yesterday we were loving Willow Smith‘s wacky AMA ensemble. The mini diva wore a grey romper, gloves and super slouchy boots, but it’s her yellow ruffled harness that’s causing quite a stir. Willow’s custom-made armpiece is actually a ripoff of a Mother of London design. And that makes us sad.
We’re still not sold on how much of a thing the American Music Awards are, but they do provide us with great red carpet fodder. Last night’s ceremony saw the likes of Taylor Swift (with straight hair!), Rihanna, Willow and many more fashionable music-making ladies.
Somewhere between attending the Met’s Costume Institute Gala, taking in Roberto Cavalli’s spring 2011 show in Milan and closing in on her 21st birthday, Taylor Swift became a little more adventurous with her style. Though she still sticks to sparkles when it comes to red carpets, Swift has been mixing things up a bit on her downtime — which is why the stick-straight ‘do she debuted at last night’s American Music Awards was a pleasant and playful surprise.
