Let’s face it: even if one of the attendees at yesterday’s World War Z premiere in London had arrived in a neon orange, sequined, see-thru gown, they still would have had a hard time getting the crowd’s (and cameras’) attention away from Angelina Jolie, who stepped out with fiancé Brad Pitt for the first time since she penned a piece for the New York Times announcing that she had undergone a preventative double mastectomy surgery. Thankfully, no one pulled any such stunts, and the carpet saw only a penguin parade of black and white getups.
The Kate Middleton Effect has shrunken handbags and nearly shuttered a British design house, but the next movement in celeb-started trends is something a bit more serious. This week, Angelina Jolie covers TIME magazine, and the feature explores her recent decision to undergo preventative double mastectomies.
We were impressed and humbled by the candor of her New York Times op-ed this morning. But… what does it all mean?
As far as dug-up modeling pictures come, Angelina Jolie’s are pretty great. Perhaps not quite as good as Martha Stewart’s gorgeous snaps from her heyday in the ’60s, but certainly a close second. You may have already seen some shots of a 16-year-old Jolie casting the moody gaze we now know so well floating around the web, but photographer Sean McCall has just released a never-before-published set online, and man are they ever stunning.
And to think, we were almost certain that the world had lost complete interest in Octomom, aka Nadya Suleman, the single mother who became the subject of tabloid fixation back in 2009 after becoming pregnant with octuplets to add to her existing brood of six. Apparently she hasn’t been entirely eclipsed by Teen Mom stars and pregnant Kardashians however, since she’s still popping up in their pages — only now with a very different look. Case in point: in this week’s In Touch, Suleman is photographed as Angelina Jolie, mimicking her much-mocked Oscars pose.
Ok, so she was probably thinking about the extremely important women’s issues being addressed at the event, but still: who wants to tell Angelina Jolie that the red carpet is no place to go swimming? Because that’s exactly what she did last night at the Women In The World Summit, in a drab, droopy dress from Hedi Slimane‘s debut collection for Saint Laurent.
In case you’re wondering what Angelina Jolie has been up to lately, the philanthropic star opened a second all-girls school in Afghanistan. Oh you know, just another day.
Brad and Angelina’s Miraval Rosé wine is “exuberant” and “energetic.” And, we’re willing to bet, pretty expensive now, since it sold out in five hours.
Move over, Kimye. The world’s other biggest power couple may have some major news — although they probably won’t be sharing it on stage in Atlantic City anytime soon.
Hint: the designer is more known for her slinky, sexy, bombshell numbers than frothy, nuptial-ready confections. Which sounds right up Angie’s alley, actually.
While news of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s engagement broke back in April, Angie hasn’t shown off her ring at any public events since. That is, until this Saturday, when the rock made its first public appearance at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
In case you were wondering how long it’d take for someone to knock off Angelina Jolie‘s engagement ring, the answer is: less than a week.
Last week, it seemed like the entire world was abuzz with news of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s engagement. Want to know more about the ring? Of course you do.
Survey says: YES.
Well, ok, not really. But Angelina Jolie does, finally addressing her infamous Oscar night pose and the veritable media frenzy it sparked post-show.
While everyone else was busy gawping at Angelina Jolie’s leg, Bill O’Reilly watched this year’s Academy Awards red carpet and ceremony with a whole other set of concerns.
If not for the blinding flash of Angelina Jolie’s sinewy thigh, her heavy black Atelier Versace dress would have looked like nothing so much as an oversized velvet (?) garbage bag. So believe us when we say: we get the pose. But we weren’t the only people laughing when she got up on stage to present the award for Best Adapted Screenplay and cocked her leg out like a pageant toddler in the final round of Miss Pixie Stick Louisiana.
Angelina Jolie always looks great on the red carpet, mainly because she’s Angelina Jolie and it would be scientifically impossible for her to not do so. But other than the odd sequin or structural neckline, she tends to stick with a similar silhouette, in neutral colors. At Thursday night’s Paris premiere of In The Land Of Blood And Honey, however, Jolie stepped out in a decidedly different look.
We did quite a few double takes at last night’s Golden Globes. This thing looks like that thing! That thing looks like this thing!
