We haven’t seen images from Kate Hudson‘s line with Ann Taylor yet, but in this exclusive video, the actress-slash-designer reveals a tiny bit more about her collection.
Kate Hudson has signed on for another ad campaign with Ann Taylor, but that’s not all — she’s mentoring young women and also designing a capsule collection for summer 2013.
There’s no shortage of people who love fashion on Tumblr, and because of that fashion brands have been a lot quicker to hop on that bandwagon than they were with other social networking tools. But some people who work in fashion are mad as hell that the blogging platform hasn’t created a way to measure how much of an impact they’re having on their customers. Case in point: Julie Friedrickson, the Digital and Social Media manager at Ann Taylor, the first fashion company ever to start a Tumblr.
“We still stay in touch, but it’s been a while since we have seen each other,” an Ann Taylor-clad Bridget Moynahan told us of her former co-star Maria Bello. “Both stars represented at Ann Taylor’s fall preview and cocktail party on Wednesday evening, held at LES hotspot Beauty + Essex. “I guess you could sort of call this a reunion.”
…And not merely by saving us a trip to Mexico. That’s because creative director Lisa Axelson makes a point of going there at least once a year, and brings her inspirations stateside for the rest of us to enjoy. This year, Ms. Axelson went to Tulum, and incorporated both her “fantasy” and “reality” version of the Mexican woman into her whimsical yet practical summer 2011 collection, which previewed to the press this Thursday at Chelsea’s The Glass Houses.
Natalie Portman isn’t the only celebrity with a sparkly new ad campaign out — Katie Holmes (for Ann Taylor), Leighton Meester (for Missoni) and Rumer Willis (for Badgley Mischka) are also getting in on the action.
So. Heidi Klum hasn’t been a former Victoria’s Secret Angel for two weeks, and she’s already landed another job. The supermodel and TV host will reprise her role as the face of Ann Taylor, replacing actress Naomi Watts, and will star in the brand’s holiday campaign again this year. Which, OK. Cool. She’s still working and getting paid and whatnot. And while we certainly don’t want to insult her newfound home, does anyone else think it’s a little bit of a step, well, down?

I mean, how would you feel if a handful of your rivals decided to pilfer through your carefully orchestrated playbook and copy your every move?
Ann Taylor’s Loft is the latest brand to take a stab at new media marketing — and so far, they seem to be doing it right. Using Tumblr as their platform, Loft has created LiveLoveLoft.com, a photo-heavy lifestyle site with posts covering nine separate categories including Styling, Beauty, Travel, Home, and Health.
