Anna Dello Russo Page 2
This is the week Fashion Month ended! Karl Lagerfeld took us under the sea and said crazy things, Anderson Cooper was mad about the Olsens‘ $34,000 backpack, and Anna Wintour brushed off Kanye. Also, WILLOW SMITH IS BACK.
It’s not everyday that you can get two hyper-famous fashion people into the same room for more than 15 minutes, but somehow ecommerce site The Corner managed to coordinate time for stylist and fashion alien Anna Dello Russo to interview designer Alessandro Dell’Acqua.
Last night, there were many a Fashion Week party. While we hung out at Prabal Gurung‘s Meatpacking shindig, others saw Odd Future perform at Alexander Wang‘s or went celeb spotting at the Purple party at Le Bain. But it was the Carine Roitfeld Barneys fete that has everyone talking. It all comes down to one word and one word only: KARAOKE.
This week saw the start of the Week of Fashion. We chatted up tons of celebs during Fashion’s Night Out, witnessed some backstage drama, and took in some stellar shows. This was also the week Karl Lagerfeld said many silly things and Lauren Bush added another Lauren to her name. But most notably, we saw Courtney Love perform live…!
You know what’s the only thing better than listening to Anna Dello Russo speak? Listening to Anna Dello Russo speak IN PERSON. Which is why we got giddy when the opportunity to interview our favorite fashion alien fell conveniently between Fashion Week appointments and into our laps.
Anna Dello Russo‘s styling gig with Macy’s INC label might be one of the smartest things a gigantic retailer has done with a private label brand in recent memory, and now the brand has released videos of what it was like working with everyone’s favorite over-the-top Italian stylist.
We are huge fans of both Anna Dello Russo and Crystal Renn. As such, an editorial styled by ADR and starring Renn should be something we’re really into. We’re not.
Anna Dello Russo posts some wacky things to her blog, but this latest item takes the cake. Please do watch ADR dance in a cage to Lady Gaga‘s “Edge Of Glory”.
Dreams, we have them. One involves meeting Anna Dello Russo. Last week said dream was all but crushed when we attended the preview of the Macy’s INC collection Anna styled. We (crazily!) assumed we would get to meet ADR IRL. We did not.
Let the journalism/retail crossover begin! Yesterday, it was reported that fashion journalist Anna Dello Russo will be working with Macy’s I.N.C. as its premiere Editor-at-Large. And last night, Styleite learned that the mass retailer will be working with a number of other fashion journalists and stylists, too.
After getting a few good tastes of high fashion, mass-market retailer Macy’s is going native. Now that the iconic American store has worked with fashion heavyweights Karl Lagerfeld and Matthew Williamson, it’s upping the ante by giving Anna Dello Russo a part-time job.
Paris Couture Week is nothing without parties, and the one model Natalia Vodianova threw at Valentino Garavani‘s Paris home, the Chateau de Wideville. Vodianova and Valentino turned his house into a Russian winter wonderland for her White Fairy Tale Love Ball, which raised money for her organization that helps disadavantaged children, the Naked Heart Foundation. And with two notable exceptions, mostly everyone turned up in dazzling white couture dresses.
Today is the day our favorite dapper rapper, Kanye West, turns 34. Happy Birthday, Yeezy!
And the Cannes red carpet rages on. Last night’s big draw was The Tree Of Life premiere, which saw star Jessica Chastain face off against Angelina Jolie, Anna Dello Russo, Zoe Saldana, and Gwen Stefani. That’s some stiff competition, the fact that both Dello Russo and Saldana then changed into second gowns for the after party notwithstanding.
At last night’s Met Gala, Anna Dello Russo wore Alexander McQueen. And an egg on her head. Call it the Great Egg Conspiracy of 2011 (or don’t), but it got us wondering: what could she possibly be hiding in there? Allow us to wildly speculate!
This year’s Met Gala celebrated the genius of Alexander McQueen. The Costume Institute‘s Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit opens tomorrow, and breathtaking doesn’t even begin to describe it. But more on that later! The Met Gala is arguably the most fashionable event of the year, so it’s no surprise than many of the A-list guests dressed in keeping with the fashionable McQueen theme.
Longtime collaborators Tommy Ton and Anna Dello Russo have teamed up for an exhibition of their favorite photographs in Canadian department store The Bay’s Toronto location. And while visiting our neighbors (and fellow countrymen and women!) in the Great White North, Ton and Dello Russo stopped by The Marilyn Denis Show to talk fashion, inspiration, and how to pose properly for all those cameras.
This week was all about weddings and proms! Because it’s spring! We saw Karl Lagerfeld in the flesh, celebrated Kanye‘s bold fashion choices, and speculated about John Galliano‘s replacement. There was also a whole lot of plastic surgery talk.
