Barack Obama fundraiser Page 1
If there’s anything we know about Anna Wintour, it’s that she’s a huge supporter of Barack Obama. She made designers create fashion-y things for him, and has raised more than 50 Birkins worth of money for his campaign. And she shows no sign of letting up.
Last night, after making a fundraising pit-stop at New York City’s Ritz Carlton, President Barack Obama found himself in the “hot basement room” of Harvey Weinstein and Georgina Chapman‘s West Village townhouse, where fifty fashion types and celebrities had paid $35,750 each for less than two hours of the President’s time. So, who was there? And, more importantly, what did they talk about?
Details are finally coming out about what went on inside Anna Wintour‘s multi-million dollar townhouse the night President Obama came to call. While WWD has the outline of a guestlist, the New York Post had another juicy tidbit.
No, we weren’t invited. Nor do we have the $30,400 entry fee had we been invited. But we do have an intrepid and conveniently located intern who goes by the name of Justin Fenner and who just so happens to live less than one block from the brouhaha and who was willing to give up whatever fabulous plans he might have had tonight in order to camp outside the barricades — yes, there are barricades — and feed us updates.
It’s a dinner that will go down in history. A meeting of two of the most powerful people in the United States, nay, the world. According to WWD, fashion’s most infamous editrix, Anna Wintour, will be hosting a dinner for President Barack Obama in her home Wednesday night. And for those on the intensely guarded guest list, entry comes at the bargain price of $30,400 a head.
