Behind the Scenes Page 1
The vibe we were getting from Katy Perry’s Elle cover was an awesomely grunge-glam, fierce high fashion MySpace bedroom selfie, which is convoluted enough. But the vibe they were going for is even more of a mash-up.
Instead of doing her usual presentation this New York Fashion Week, Rachel Roy is showing her fall 2013 collection digitally. We had the pleasure of chatting with Roy about taking the digital road while she was filming her collection last week, and now we’ve got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at her opulent wares.
Candy and clothing will forever be two of our favorite things, and for New York magazine’s Spring 2013 Fashion Issue, artist Will Cotton played to our not-so-guilty pleasures in a spread starring Hollywood’s sweetheart Elle Fanning.
If you didn’t see Alana, the Toddlers And Tiaras star known round the Internet for calling everyone and everything “honey boo boo child” on Dr. Drew last week, then we feel sorry for you. But we do have something that will make up for your loss: video of Alana getting ready to go on air with the TV psychiatrist. Ka-ching!
Anna Dello Russo‘s styling gig with Macy’s INC label might be one of the smartest things a gigantic retailer has done with a private label brand in recent memory, and now the brand has released videos of what it was like working with everyone’s favorite over-the-top Italian stylist.
Gap wants to change the way you think about its products — and the people who make them. So this fall, instead of a group of celebrity portraits or commercials that look like very short, very coordinated music videos, its ads are going to take you behind the scenes of its various operations and show real people wearing their very real clothes.
On Tuesday Sarah Muroch made news by announcing the winner of Australia’s Next Top Model incorrectly. She has since tried to explain what happened in an interview with Australian TV personality Karl Stefanovic. Instead of digging into what she says before you’ve had the opportunity to read the transcript, we’ll just let her words speak for themselves.
We wrote last week how much we think everyone in the fashion industry — and a healthy share of people outside of it — should see “Picture Me,” Sara Ziff’s documentary about what it’s really like to be a model. During New York Fashion Week, Ziff went backstage for The Cut to talk with models and industry about issues from how young models are when they start working to how much or how little they’re allowed to eat.
Kate Moss, fashion goddess to many, is reportedly playing a Hindu goddess in a new film by Baillie Walsh called KM3D-1 (Kate Moss 3D Part 1?). Specifically, she is playing “Kali, the all-powerful Hindu goddess” and the short film will make its premiere Thursday at Haunch of Venison London in partnership with AnOther Magazine and Beefeater 24. Begging the question: will Kate be wearing a meat dress? (Kidding! As if Kate needs a meat dress to stand out.)
Other than audio clips and a few tweets, we had no idea what was going on at Tom Ford women’s show on Sunday. But thanks to a few intrepid, rule-bending photographers (Cathy Horyn included) we have photos!
