While, thankfully, Botox Mom‘s story was a hoax, it was concerning enough to prompt a cosmetic doctor to pen a cautionary tale for young people considering facial fillers to forestall wrinkles: Dr. Darren McKeown says using Botox as a preventative measure won’t actually stop the aging process. It’ll advance it.
As the Botox Mom scandal takes its last, dying breaths, Taiwanese animation aficionados NMA have put together the recap to end all recaps. In it, Good Morning America producers drool (literally) over the story and Sheena Upton gets stamped with the word “LIAR.” But the saddest interpretation of this already sad story is daughter Britney’s portrayal as a wind-up doll.
This was the week of Cannes, Botox mom, and Lady Gaga. Also, Carla Bruni is probably, definitely pregnant, and Jane Pratt‘s website launched. And, you know, beards!
There have been varying amounts of skepticism over whether Sheena Upton, the woman known around the world as Botox Mom, actually gave her 8-year-old daughter injections of Botox — at this point, even she has said the entire spectacle was a hoax, an “acting job” she did for money. But Good Morning America‘s Lara Spencer, who interviewed Upton and her daughter last week, says her evidence suggests Upton really did use the wrinkle filler on her 8 year old.
In a new series of video interviews, Sheena Upton — better known by her alias Kerry Campbell or her nickname Botox Mom — reaffirmed that the story about giving her daughter Botox injections was entirely made up. In fact, Upton says, she’s not even sure what Botox is.
Today in news we’ve never been so happy to hear, so-called “Botox Mom” is now claiming she made the whole thing up. In a written and signed declaration obtained by TMZ (who else?), Kerry Campbell says she never injected her daughter Britney with Botox, “nor allowed her to get any type of waxing, nor is she a beauty pageant contestant.” So why say she did?
Kerry Campbell, the San Francisco mother who injected her 8-year-old daughter Britney’s face with Botox of dubious provenance, got down on her knees and begged for forgiveness from the world just days after Britney was taken out of her custody.
In news that should surprise absolutely no one, a mother who regularly injects her 8-year-old daughter with Botox (and who unapologetically defended her actions on national television) is now being investigated by the human services agency in her hometown of San Francisco.
