We’ve never really thought of the New York Times as a bully. Stubborn and crotchety, definitely. But seems a run of Jean-Luc Godard-inspired tees have the old Grey Lady doing more than just shaking her cane and yelling at the kids to get off her yard.
In the wake of cotton-gate 2010 and the collective disgust over Urban Outfitter’s “Eat Less” endorsement we’ve been paying much closer attention to their “New Arrivals” tab. And admittedly it was with surprise we discovered an innocuous tea-stained scoop neck screen printed with the New York Times logo.
Kate and Laura Mulleavy are at it again, this time designing a line of tees in collaboration with Rialto Pictures to celebrate the 50th anniversary and rerelease of the French film Breathless. (Don’t worry. We’d never heard of it either.)
