Eleven years after starting his eponymous footwear line, shoe guru Brian Atwood finally set up shop on New York’s famed Madison Avenue in late August. He threw a star-studded fete last Wednesday, and we caught up with the designer who chatted about opening the new store, played coy about the banned ads, and divulged his own shoe preference.
Last night, at the very glamorous launch of Brian Atwood‘s collection of exclusive handbags for Gilt Groupe, we sat down with the newly crowned king of the stiletto (sorry, Louboutin) to chat about working with Gilt, Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Oscars dress, and Bethenny Frankel‘s Anderson wardrobe malfunction.
You know all those jokes about putting lipstick on a pig? (Or, alternatively, putting a hog in armor?) Well, it turns out dressing a pig up can actually be pretty effective — so long as that pig already famous. Which is Why InStyle magazine partnered with some of the hottest designers working today to dress the one and only Miss Piggy for the November issue.
We’ve had a hit-and-miss relationship with Kristen Stewart‘s wardrobe. Sometimes, she looks absolutely fantastic, and at other times she looks downright uncomfortable. At last night’s Cinema Society screening of Welcome to the Rileys, the Twilight star wore a dress that wanted the glamour and high drama of a full-lentgh gown and the fun youthfulness of a cocktail dress.
Style bloggers hearts’ have been all aflutter today over the announcement of Brian Atwood‘s diffusion line with the Jones Apparel Group. But no one seems to be concerned that the shoes might cost too much money. Above, the Brian Atwood Maniac, which sells for $580.

And what better way to celebrate than with a phenomenal footwear creation from the same designer I featured on day one (who could forget the Lola)? Fashionistas and gentleman, meet Brian Atwood’s Chain-Back Over-The-Knee Boots!
