With less than a day to go before the royal wedding, designer Bruce Oldfield, who many fashion industry insiders thought was making Kate Middleton‘s wedding gown, says he won’t be designing the dress.
This whole royal wedding dress thing is crazy. FULL-ON CRAZY. How has nobody spilled the beans yet? Are British people just really good at keeping secrets? Why do we care so much? WE CARE SO MUCH. So. So. Much.
It’s only fitting that the May issue of Vogue UK is totally and completely royal wedding-obsessed. Not only is there a feature on Kate Middleton (who they call Catherine), a piece on fashion brides, and guide to being a perfect wedding guest, the magazine also went all out when it came to the cover.
This was the week that Fall Fashion Week started! As such, we talked to tons of cool people (Tim Gunn, Simon Doonan and Rachel Roy among them), gawked at some pretty clothes and still got our fill of gossip. Allow us to fill you in on Tom Ford, Vogue Paris, Michelle Obama and more.
One designed dresses for a Secretary of State, the other may or may not be making a dress for the future Queen of England. One thinks Michelle Obama should only wear American designers, the other one just wants Kate Middleton to wear sleeves at her wedding. But when you expose Bruce Oldfield and Oscar de la Renta to the frigid cold of their respective climates, they could be the same guy!
There has been so much speculation about Bruce Oldfield being the lucky designer tapped to make Kate Middleton‘s wedding dress, everyone has sort of resigned themselves to thinking that he is indeed the chosen one. However, his appearance on Friday’s Good Morning American left us thinking otherwise.
Just as we suspected back in December, it looks like our favorite future princess has tapped Bruce Oldfield to design her wedding dress. Or has she? A source tells People that Kate Middleton has settled on a designer, but that she and Prince William wish to keep said designer’s identity under wraps.
We won’t know all the details about Kate Middleton’s wedding to Prince William until April 29, 2011, but some people are already betting (literally betting, and hundreds of dollars at that) that designer Bruce Oldfield will create Kate’s wedding dress.
