Cartoons Page 1
First SpongeBob Squarepants dresses up like Karl and Coco, then Mickey Mouse and crew got the high fashion treatment for Barneys‘ holiday campaign, and now Sailor Moon, Betty Boop, and more are modeling the Spring 2013 runway collections. Is nothing from our childhood sacred any more? Just kidding, we actually love the idea.
Courtney Love‘s style transformation from tongue-in-cheek rocker kitschy over-the-top red carpet glamour has never failed to amaze or confuse us. And in what seems like an attempt to explain it all, Love worked with artist Michael Mouris to create “The Dark Night of the Soul,” a cartoon that follows her metamorphosis. The six-minute film tracks Love’s life from kooky clothes to meetings with Karl Lagerfeld and André Leon Tally to Birkin-ownership and beyond.
We love Jim Benton‘s cartoon “My New Designs for Lady Gaga,” not because they’re funny, but because they’re conceptual pieces of art we could actually see the Lady wearing.
