Young designers in the fashion industry may not always have it so easy, as Peter Som told us last night, but the 10 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists are getting a big boost with the help of Nordstrom.
We already know who took home the grand prize at last night’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards (that would be Greg Chait of The Elder Statesman), but there was no shortage of champions on the red carpet, either. Designers, models, editors, and fashion fans alike donned their best all-American duds and stepped out to strike a pose or two.
For the past nine years, the CFDA and Vogue have teamed up to award a promising young designer with $300,000 towards their line and a mentorship with a top industry figure. Past winners include Joseph Altuzarra, Alexander Wang, and Sophie Theallet, and this year, as always, competition was fierce. So, who’s the up-and-comer who took home the grand prize?
The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Initiative, an organization dedicated to aiding up-and-coming American designers on the path to realizing their dreams, announced the finalists in its annual Fashion Fund Competition today.
Earlier this week we showed you the entire Altuzarra for J.Crew collection. Today we can share the rest of J.Crew‘s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund pieces, courtesy of Pamela Love and Creatures of the Wind.
For its second go at the “Americans in Paris” intiative, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund has teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger and 10 emerging designers to reimagine the classic Tommy trench.
We may have some thoughts about Anna Wintour‘s boots, but the woman has done a whole lot of good for the fashion community. One of our favorite Wintour initiatives is the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, now in its eighth year. So, who made the cut?
If there’s two words we never thought would be used in the same sentence, it’s “J.Crew” and the fascinating inspiration behind Eddie Borgo’s CFDA-sponsored capsule collection for the retail giant.
Last night some of the world’s most fashionable (and forward-thinking) people gathered at this year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. The awards are awesome because they recognize and reward new talent — past winners have included Alexander Wang, the Proenza Schouler boys and Sophie Theallet. This year Billy Reid took home the night’s top prize (and $300,000).
