The white smoke has billowed in Vatican City and the new Pope has been named, but thirteen years ago, we got an idea of what John Galliano’s version the Catholic leader would look like during one not-so-Christian Dior runway show.
Raf Simons‘ second ready-to-wear show for Christian Dior walked today in Paris, which meant we were at our screens bright and early to catch the live stream of the hotly-anticipated event. In many ways, it was the perfect start to the morning: a breezy, upbeat collection blending pop art, surrealism, and the well-entrenched codes of the storied French house.
It’s safe to say that the Christian Dior execs who hired Raf Simons must be giving themselves a big pat on the back right about now.
Jennifer Lawrence talks to Vogue about her much-discussed wardrobe mishap, and how she was just about as surprised as everyone.
Bejeweled lips: not a beauty look we thought we’d ever find appealing. And yet, at today’s Christian Dior haute couture runway show, Pat McGrath worked her magic on the parade of models, giving their pouts the kind of pizzazz usually reserved for the cocktail dresses on their backs.
Raf Simons is showing his second couture collection for Christian Dior today at 8:30AM EST/2:30PM CET. Watch the live stream of the runway show here!
We’re not sure at what point seeing Raf Simons‘ Dior looks on the red carpet will cease to give us a little jolt of excitement, but we haven’t reached it yet. Last night, it was Kate Mara‘s turn to give the Spring 2013 collection a whirl, at the premiere of the Netflix original series “House Of Cards”. Plus, see Scarlett in Dolce & Gabbana, Renée in Hugo Boss, and more!
The Silver Linings actress stuns in an eye-popping red ballgown, a tousled updo, and scaled-back accessories.
We liked Kristen Stewart‘s naked Zuhair Murad Twilight gown; we could even abide the naked jumpsuit. But last night at the New York premiere of On The Road, the actress’ foray into the world of see-through fabrics went terribly, terribly wrong.
Finally, some of the mysterious behind-the-scenes dealings surrounding the top spot at Christian Dior are coming out.
Jennifer Lawrence met Anna Wintour Sunday night at a swanky shindig for her new movie Silver Linings Playbook, but, being the down-to-earth girl that she is, Lawrence didn’t just play it off like it was no big thing.
Antoine Arnault is scion to LVMH, CEO of Berluti, and boyfriend of supermodel Natalia Vodianova. In other words, the consummate fashion insider. Which means we were very much intrigued to hear what he had to say about the final period of John Galliano‘s tenure at the helm of Christian Dior before he was fired for a highly publicized anti-Semitic rant.
To think: only seven short months ago Marc Jacobs‘ name was still being bandied about as a possible replacement for John Galliano at Christian Dior. Now, of course, Raf Simons is firmly settled into the role with two collections under his belt and Jacobs is busy riding up and down escalators with his troupe of models at Louis Vuitton, but under different circumstances, the Marc/Dior pairing may have actually come to pass.
Last night, celebs from the A-list, B-list, and beyond stepped out in all manner of red carpet duds. Here are our picks for best and worst dressed of the night.
We suppose it was not a question of if, but when Marion Cotillard would pop up on the red carpet in a piece from Raf Simons‘ debut ready-to-wear collection from Christian Dior. The actress was the first to wear a dress from his couture collection at the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises back in July, and this weekend she stepped out in a black minidress straight off the Paris runway for the Rust and Bone premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
We’ll admit we were pretty giddy with anticipation this morning as we watched the crowd settle down at Raf Simons’ first-ever ready-to-wear show for Christian Dior. Unfortunately, we were at our desks in New York rather than in the stark white box of a venue the brand set up on the Esplanade des Invalides in Paris, but that fact barely diminished our excitement. Between Twitter, Instagram, and livestreaming, there’s plenty to take in even if you’re 3,000 miles away.
Once upon a time, fashion shows were just that: shows. We’ve been to some pretty amazing runway shows in our time, but we long for the days when models performed.
Vogue put Rooney and Kate Mara on this year’s best dressed sisters list, and last night the stylish siblings battled it out on the red carpet.
