Fragrance reviews are silly, but sometimes, fragrance marketing is even sillier. What do “playful pastimes” and “nostalgia” really smell like? So from now on, we’ll be crowdsourcing our own fragrance reviews. Read on to find out what our office thought about the latest sample to land on our desk. This week, we’re testing out Calvin Klein‘s CK One Summer.
We’ve seen the billboard, the confessional videos, and the 30-second commercial spot. Now we have a far more naked video to add to our obsessive coverage of Calvin Klein‘s awesome new ck One campaign. Behold: models doing things in their underwear!
A select group of New Yorkers are up in arms over this ck One billboard erected on lower Manhattan’s Houston Street. And while Lara Stone‘s, erm, assets would certainly qualify as worthy of distraction, it’s not the model’s figure that’s causing the commotion but rather the suggestion of an inappropriate message written out subliminally across the advertisement.
Sometimes modeling looks like a cakewalk. Sometimes it looks harder than honors-level calculus. But it’s still a job, and like all jobs, there are some people who are naturally very good at it. Australian supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw is really good at it, and thanks to Calvin Klein‘s new cK One ad campaign, we now know why.
In what may be the most awesome nod to the nineties we’ve ever seen, ck one has just launched a new campaign shot by Steven Meisel (the man behind the original ads featuring ’90s icons like Kate Moss and Jenny Shimizu), in which aughts icons like Lara Stone, Pixie Geldof, Abbey Lee Kershaw, and Alice Dellal dance around wearing CK Jeans in what appears to a small, padded (and camera ready) room.
