People will do a lot of crazy things for beauty, and in Iran, women on average are paying four to eight times their monthly salary for cosmetic surgery, and getting seven times as many nose jobs per capita than we are in the States.
This is just heartbreaking.

Another day, another advertisement banned by the British Advertising Standards Authority for being far too intense for the eyes of innocent children. This time, the watchdog has pulled an ad that poked fun at a women’s magazine while advocating fast, easy, low-cost breast augmentation.
There are a lot of things we would do for our hypothetical children to stop them from hypothetically having a bad educational experience, but we don’t know yet if rhinoplasty is hypothetically one of those things. But one New York couple decided it was the best way to prevent their teenage daughter from being teased and bullied at school.
So it turns out that having a lot of elective surgery and cosmetic procedures done isn’t just limited to the Real Housewives. According to a fresh set of numbers from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of breast implants (and buckets of Botox) we’ve been shelling out for has increased over the past ten years.
Until pretty recently, Jocelyn Wildenstein‘s face served as a cautionary tale to people considering plastic surgery the world over. We even made a joke about “Wildenstein territory” last week when discussing the elective operations of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But we just saw some photos of her, and it looks like she’s gotten some big time corrective plastic surgery.
This morning when we were listening to NPR — and yes, we listen to NPR — we heard about a flabbergasting new cosmetic procedure interlaced with a lot of Twilight jokes.
