CR Fashion Book Page 1
Carine Roitfeld‘s irreverence is the stuff of legend — not to mention the inspiration for the title of her 2011 coffee book. Her latest tongue-in-cheek endeavor is a Bruce Weber-lensed spread in the second issue of CR Fashion Book starring none other than Big Ang, the brassy, big-chested, Staten Island-dwelling star of VH1‘s Mob Wives. Why Big Ang? Well, for the women’s issue of Ad Week, the former French Vogue editor explains the thinking behind the unexpected casting choice.
Not long after the news broke that Carine Roitfeld would be launching her own magazine, CR Fashion Book, reports leaked from Condé Nast‘s HQ indicating that the publishing giant (and Roitfeld’s ex-employer) was issuing stern warnings to its contracted photographers and editors reminding them not to get involved with the new tome. While this meant that the former French Vogue editrix was barred from working with many of her favorites, including longtime collaborator Mario Testino, it also opened up a window of opportunity.
Prince-of-darkness designer Rick Owens wouldn’t be our first thought to shoot a spread for the dance-themed newest issue of CR Fashion Book, but editor Carine Roitfield knows what she’s doing. We’ve got an exclusive look at Owens’ first ever editorial.
The release of Carine Roitfeld‘s new magazine CR Fashion Book is mere days away, but impatient as we are, we just had to get another look inside the glossy. Luckily today marks the launch of the official website, so now we have more than just a few GIFs, JPEGs, and videos to form an idea of the accompanying book.
In only a few short weeks we’ll all be able to get our hands on copies of Carine Roitfeld‘s new magazine CR Fashion Book, but for now we’ll have to settle with teaser gifs posted on the glossy’s official Tumblr page. The latest stars perennial French Vogue favorite Lara Stone, clad in an ivory Céline sweater with a pair of angel wings strapped to her back.
Carine Roitfeld is a fashion superstar. And while she may be one of the more revered editors in the business, she is surprisingly down-to-earth.
Only the very best for the CR Fashion Book crew.

When it comes to Condé Nast, you’re either with them or against them. And now that Carine Roitfeld is no longer at French Vogue, Condé is warning photographers not to work with her, lest they incur the magazine giant’s wrath.
