On June 3, the New York fashion industry will fête its brightest stars at this year’s annual CFDA Fashion Awards and, for the 12th time, Swarovski will present three awards to designers whose stars are on the rise. Here is this year’s incoming class of nominees.
If we learned anything from her MAC collection, it’s that Carine Roitfeld is a beauty icon in the making. The editrix’s signature smoky eye, bold brow, and natural lip provided the inspiration for the models’ looks yesterday at Cushnie et Ochs‘ fall show, and were the perfect complement to the sexy, powerful ensembles the design duo sent down the runway. “This isn’t med school. We’re not saving lives, but have you ever tried to make the shirt you’re wearing? We may have some thoughts about Anna Wintour‘s boots, but the woman has done a whole lot of good for the fashion community. One of our favorite Wintour initiatives is the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, now in its eighth year. So, who made the cut?
Leather seems to be the word on the street — er, runway — again at Cushnie et Ochs this season. Leather shorts, leather pants, leather blazers and even a winged leather dress grace the line’s spring/summer 2011 collection.
Every year, Paper magazine releases their list of Beautiful People. Last year’s list consisted of names like Whitney Port, Kristen Wiig, DJ Cassidy, and Cushnie et Ochs, among others. The list is always diverse. Some on the list are superstars, others rising stars, and others, for lack of a nicer term, are no-names. Regardless of their social status, they’re all gorgeous and interesting and totally Paper.
