Downton Abbey Page 1
Nothing gets us tingling with excitement quite like seeing the cast of Downton Abbey in modern day garb. While we do get a little awestruck when Lady Mary is not wearing an opulent, drop-waist down and long opera gloves or Lady Edith looks sexy enough to court Matthew in an embellished mini, it’s kind of amazing to see the post-Edwardian female characters flashing more skin than their husbands-to-be would see prior to their wedding night.
British guys are hot by default, what with their charming accents and all, but GQ UK’s list makes that premise much more official in their annual list of the 50 Best Dressed Men in Britain.
We used to think that we made a pretty mean gingerbread house…and then we saw this video.
The 64th Primetime Emmys are going to be held tomorrow night, which means the red carpet extravaganza has officially begun! The A-listers turned out in force last night for the pre-show events, so there is much to discuss, sartorially speaking.
Do you know why we love the Brits? Because they gave us Kate Middleton. They also gave us a bootlegged and awesome copy of the promo for the third season of Downton Abbey.
Our obsession with Downton Abbey shows no sign of abating — we’re currently rewatching it on Hulu Plus — which is why we love that Michelle Dockery, aka Lady Mary, sat down with Harper’s Bazaar for an interview in the September issue, and she dishes on why the series is so popular, as well as her personal style.
Do you miss Downton Abbey as much as we do? WE MISS IT THE MOST. While the series doesn’t return until the fall, Jimmy Fallon is doing his best to fill the Dowager Countess-shaped hole in our hearts.
The first episode of Jimmy Fallon‘s Downton Abbey parody series, Downton Sixbey, debuted last night, and boy does it give The Fresh Prince Of Downton Abbey a run for its pounds sterling.
We prefer SNL‘s Fancy Entourage, but College Humor‘s The French Prince of Downton Abbey is worth a watch.
Loath as we are to even consider the idea that any of the actors from Downton Abbey exist in a world that doesn’t involve titles and servants and a big house in the country, they do. And when they’re not pretending to be variously assorted members of the British nobility, they’re doing cool things like starring in modern jewelry ads.
When the first model at Ralph Lauren‘s fall show walked on to the runway to the dulcet sounds of the Downton Abbey theme song, our first thought was: how come no one thought of doing this earlier?
We’d love to see the Saturday Night Live cast go full-on Downton Abbey (Kristen Wiig as the Dowager Countess/Lady Mary/O’Brien/anyone?), but last night’s mash-up clip will do for now.
Is there anything less Victorian-era aristocracy than cheap knockoff jewelry? PBS, what were you thinking?
