Ellen DeGeneres Page 1
Portia De Rossi covers Out magazine’s Power Issue, but all we see is her partner Ellen DeGeneres. It may just be coincidence, but it sure is adorable.
While the other nominees for Best Actress at this year’s Academy Awards will no doubt be tapping the couture houses of Paris and the diamond purveyors of Fifth Avenue and Rodeo Drive for their red carpet looks, 9-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis is a whole other story. How to look both age appropriate and appropriately glamorous for the biggest Hollywood event of the year? Well, Wallis has at least one part of her outfit set and ready to go: her puppy purse, which she says is her “signature” accessory.
Seattle-born rapper Macklemore took to Ellen‘s stages yesterday for yet another, still rousing performance of “Thrift Shop.” Like the secondhand clothes of which he raps so enthusiastically, Macklemore doesn’t seem to get tired of performing the hit — pretty impressive, since it’s virtually everywhere.
Justin Bieber appeared on Ellen today and he totally charmed her!
Michelle Obama’s style can probably be best described as casual with a twist, with looks that are always relatively demure and covered-up. But it turns out she had a bit of a saucy streak once upon a time as well. In a prom photo unearthed by Ellen DeGeneres, Obama is seated in a high-backed wicker chair, showing off no small amount of leg in a champagne colored satin gown with a slit up to there.
JC Penney has been taking some major flak from conservative family values group One Million Moms for naming talk-show host (and noted lesbian) Ellen DeGeneres as its new spokesperson. The retail chain hasn’t backed down, and today, DeGeneres will use the monologue portion of her show to say that she’s not backing down, either.
You know what they say about foundation garments. Oh wait. We don’t have a saying for those yet, do we? Well that doesn’t matter — the point is that Academy Award nominee Octavia Spencer felt the need to wear three sets of Spanx to the Screen Actors Guild awards this weekend. Where she won.
Yesterday Seal and Heidi Klum confirmed they are separating. Today the singer’s new album dropped. Seal has embarked on a media tour to promote the album, and he’s been fielding questions about the split in interviews.
We’ve all had our bad Spanx experiences (which makes us wonder why any of us continue to wear them), but Melissa McCarthy’s tale, involving a nude pair and a group of construction workers.
We’ve written before about how bad celebrity fragrance commercials are, but like that old writing class adage: show, don’t tell. Which is why this spoof commercial created by Ellen deGeneres and Keith Urban is worth a thousand words.
We’re not sure how we missed this but it was too good not to share. We’re huge fans of Ellen DeGeneres’ celebrity prank feature and the most recent installment is no exception. Featuring David Beckham, his cologne, a terrible disguise, your local Target, and a bunch of unsuspecting (as well as suspecting!) customers, this prank really takes the cake.
So when Lady Gaga went on Ellen the other day to talk about things like surrealist moles and being a godmother, she also did her first live performance of her new single, Judas. If you haven’t heard it, it’s an infectious song about religion and being in love and dancing, and Gaga’s performance was OK. Or maybe it was great — we couldn’t tell, because all we could think throughout the entire ordeal was, “She’s wearing the same thing Beyonce wore in the video for Bootylicious.”
Remember The Princess Diaries? To refresh your memory, Anne Hathaway plays a nerdy girl who finds out she’s really a princess and then gets to make out with her best friend’s totally dreamy older brother who also happens to be in a band. This was our dream when we were 14! And the same thing basically just happened to Ellen DeGeneres. Sort of.
After starring in an award-winning movie as a perfection-obsessed ballerina (and after getting engaged to a man who taught people how to look like ballet dancers for that movie), it’d be safe to assume Natalie Portman would know how to cut a rug. But when she met Ellen DeGeneres backstage at The Ellen Show yesterday, all she ended up doing was cutting up.
Contrary to what that headline above might have you believe, we’re not having an identity crisis of sorts — we’re still a style site. That said, we just can’t stop laughing about the Jennifer Lopez / Ellen DeGeneres hidden camera prank video we just finished watching. Which means you need to see it.
Ryan Gosling stopped by The Ellen Show today, and while that in and of itself makes this video worth watching, we’ll give you a little extra incentive: he wore a onesie.
Happy Tuesday! Set your DVRs, because Willow Smith is going to be on “The Ellen Show” this afternoon. But for those of you who (like us) can’t wait, here’s a clip of the nine year old style star, pop rocker, and celebrity progeny chatting with our second favorite daytime talkshow host, Ellen! (Oprah always has and always will come first.)
Brooke Shields dropped by The Ellen Show yesterday and in typical Ellen form, the host had a little surprise waiting for her. Queued up on the screen was Shields’ infamous Calvin Klein ad from 1980. But what Shields had to say about those Calvins may surprise you.
