emmy 2011 red carpet Page 1
We thought we were done with our awesome (if somewhat exhausting!) Emmy red carpet coverage, when we realized we’d inadvertently forgotten to highlight three of our favorite style stars: Christina Hendricks, Elisabeth Moss, and Kiernan Shipka, all of whom work on Mad Men and all of whom wore spectacularly stunning dresses.
For a red carpet that we would characterize as fairly vanilla, there were still some looks from last night’s Emmy Awards that we found sartorially offensive.
To be honest: we were fairly disappointed with Sunday night’s red carpet showing. It was pretty, sure, but basically, we were very, very bored. That said, even the most snoozey awards show has its standouts, and tonight was no exception. From a CW star to an Oscar winner, from Oscar de la Renta to new-to-us Lebanese designer George Hobeika, these six ladies stole the sartorial show.
It’s clear that Paz de la Huerta marches to the beat of her own drum. And most of the time we just kind of ignore it and let her go on her merry way. And then we saw what she wore (and what she wore on her FACE) to tonight’s Emmy Awards and, well, we couldn’t help but wonder, WTF?
How do you solve a problem like Gwyneth Paltrow? Just two weeks after she shut down the Venice Film Festival in a pale pink Prada creation, she shows up at the Emmy Awards in a black sequined Pucci dress featuring a very strange mesh cutout across her midsection.
