Fashion’s Night Out Page 1
For the first year since its inception in 2009, Fashion’s Night Out will not be held in the United States.
Reason #5,987,274 why we love Karlie Kloss: she is philanthropic. Right now, she’s doing some awesome (and delicious) charity work by baking cookies for Momofuku Milk Bar, and each sale benefits FEED.
It was a long evening, but Fashion’s Night Out at Saks Fifth Avenue was well worth it. I interviewed one of my favorite athletes, Amar’e Stoudemire from the New York Knicks, and took a photo with him. Yeah, I was totally shameless.
But you sure wouldn’t know it from the tunes Solange Knowles was spinning last night at her Meatpacking District flagship.
Despite the mob of fashionable girls (and one adorable little boy) snapping photos with and of Rebecca Minkoff at Saks Fifth Avenue during Fashion’s Night Out, the designer seemed relaxed and ease. Almost eerily so, and she later admitted that it’s because she’s completely, 100 percent finished with her spring 2013 collection, which we’re livestreaming at 3 p.m. this afternoon.
The countdown is on for Fashion’s Night Out, and with more than 700 retailers keeping their doors open late tomorrow evening, it can be a little tough to navigate all of the deals. Luckily, we’ve divided the best of the bunch into three major shopping ‘hoods: Meatpacking District, Soho, and Midtown/Upper East Side, so you can plan your night of boozing, celeb-spotting, and retail accordingly.
As much as we are dreading the booze-filled celeb spotting that is Fashion’s Night Out, we can’t help but be a teeny tiny bit excited for September 6. Especially when this year’s merch is so cool! In addition to the official FNO apparel and accessories, a whole slew of retailers are rolling out special items just for one night, and some are even extending the wares to e-commerce. Of course, there are thousands of special FNO merch, but we’ve whittled it down to the essential buys of the night. Bonus: one’s even totally free!
Move over, red lipstick. Azealia Banks has just teamed up with M.A.C. on a plum lipstick that’ll surely be this season’s go-to shade.
As much as we’re dreading this year’s Fashion’s Night Out, we were pretty amazed at its new PSA. It failed to hype us up for FNO, but it did make us giggle. The normal fashion crew of Marc Jacobs, Karlie Kloss, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Paré, and Solange Knowles make appearances in the video. But wait, hold the phone — is that Tyson Chandler?? Yeah, he’s in it too! And why is Darren Criss singing a Madonna song?
Fashion’s Night Out is back for its fourth year of
shopping booze-filled celeb watching. We’ve already rounded up a handy list of the best events in New York City, but in case you were still planning to sit at home with a tub of AmeriCone Dream, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift want to try and convince you to partake in Retail Scream 4.
Our enthusiasm for Fashion’s Night Out pretty much went out the window the third time someone nearly knocked us over last year trying to elbow their way to the in-store bar, but we realize there are those of you with higher crowd thresholds and a greater will to meet Kim Kardashian, so for you we’ve got some details for September 6th!
It should come as no surprise that Kendall Jenner is the face of the Beverly Center‘s Fashion’s Night Out. The 16-year-old reality starlet and model fronts an ad promoting the
boozing shopping extravaganza on September 6.
This week the Obamas wore awesome things, Elizabeth Taylor‘s jewelry sold for a whole lot of money, and Courtney Love got evicted. We also learned that Meryl Streep is a total kickass feminist, and that Fashion’s Night Out is unfortunately here to stay.
Dear Organizers of Fashion’s Night Out, We heard today that you’ve decided to throw another edition of FNO in September 2012. Congratulations on making up your collective mind! Now what can we do to change it?
This week saw the start of the Week of Fashion. We chatted up tons of celebs during Fashion’s Night Out, witnessed some backstage drama, and took in some stellar shows. This was also the week Karl Lagerfeld said many silly things and Lauren Bush added another Lauren to her name. But most notably, we saw Courtney Love perform live…!
Fashion’s Night Out might be fun, but let’s face facts: It costs a lot of money to pull off. What started out as Anna Wintour‘s novel economic stimulus package for an ailing retail industry has now become one big night of partying, celeb stalking that involves little to no shopping whatsoever. And some retailers are downright upset that they aren’t seeing a real return on the investment they make in FNO.
Never doubt the power of reality television. Last night, the Kardashians’ Fashion’s Night Out bash at their NYC location of Dash was shut down after thousands of rabid fans jumped the barricades to get to DJ Pauly D as he was leaving the store.
When you’re talking about strong, powerful females in fashion, Diane von Furstenberg really takes the cake. In other words: we love her, which is why we made her SoHo boutique our first top at Fashion’s Night Out. Von Furstenberg had a few things to celebrate in addition to her awesomeness, namely her new fragrance, Diane, which she was enthusiastically spritzing on anyone who came within a five foot radius. But this is no ordinary perfume; as she conspiratorially told us, DVF puts a lot more than just fragrance in that gorgeous gold bottle.
We’ve heard of quirky media practices, but we’ve never actually encountered anything quite so peculiar as the way model Arizona Muse interacts with reporters. Last night at David Yurman, we found ourselves on the receiving end of the way Muse controls her image. Other journalists, bloggers and reporters, take heed: You’re gonna have to be prepared.
