Andre 3000, Common, and Jay Electronica have all waxed poetic about the first lady of neo-soul Erykah Badu.. and now Riccardo Tisci can be added to that list. The designer has tapped Badu to be the face of his next campaign — and it’s a choice that’s as refreshing as it is unexpected.
Let September 29 also be known as Styleite Can’t Quit Instagram Day.
We understand that Riccardo Tisci has had his hands full. While designing multiple Givenchy collections, he’s taken on stagewear for Beyoncé and Rihanna, ballet costumes for the Opéra Garnier, as well as co-chaired the Met Gala — for which he designed many red carpet looks, including one infamous floral sofa dress for a very pregnant Kim Kardashian. So maybe we have to cut Tisci some slack with the news that the Givenchy will not hold its couture presentation next month. A
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? That seems to be Riccardo Tisci’s thinking for his fall 2013 Givenchy campaign, which revives last season’s all-in-the-family theme. This time, however, instead of Mariacarla Boscono and her brand new baby, he’s tapped a mother and daughter pair that can both don the line in Carine Roitfeld and Julia Restoin Roitfeld, along with muse Amanda Seyfried, actor Quim Gutiérrez, and models Mariano Ontañon and Dalianah Arekion. We certainly weren’t the only ones who put Kim Kardashian on our worst dressed lists after Monday night’s Met Gala. After all, let’s be honest: the sofa memes practically made themselves. But designer Riccardo Tisci is sticking staunchly by his vision, telling WWD that the floral, formfitting, custom Givenchy gown was the perfect mix of romance and rebellion and that Kardashian was “the most beautiful pregnant woman” he has ever dressed.
Less than a week after Amanda Seyfried was announced as the new face of Givenchy’s Very Irrésistible fragrance, her debut spot has hit the web. But while she and Riccardo Tisci have proven to be quite the formidable force on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Vanity Fair party, and, of course, last night’s Met Gala, we’re not so sure the 45-second ad is quite as irresistible as the name might suggest.
If you think Rihanna is just going to wear some plain white tee and nondescript booty shorts on her Diamonds World Tour, think again. The super star kicked off her tour in Buffalo, New York on Friday, and turned the stage into a runway with some custom Givenchy duds.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finally made their Paris Fashion Week debut as parents-to-be at Sunday night’s Givenchy fall 2013 show.
We’re not sure we’d want to walk around wearing a t-shirt with our own face on it, but if it were a custom design from Riccardo Tisci? Then maybe we’d reconsider.
While the rest of the fashion industry continues the ongoing game of musical chairs that has brought shakeups at the helms of Saint Laurent, Dior, Balenciaga, and Jil Sander, we can breathe easy knowing that at least one of our favorite designers is staying put for a while.
For the lucky editors who will be attending the couture shows in Paris in late January, there’ll be a big gap in the schedule due to the announcement that Givenchy will not present a collection to the press. It’s a sad day, you guys.
Remember yesterday when we told you that you wouldn’t get a glimpse of Givenchy‘s womenswear campaign until Vogue Paris’ February issue hits newsstands? Well, just kidding! Mariacarla Boscono‘s is here, and the model brought along a teeny tiny co-star: her four-month-old daughter Marialucas.
Riccardo Tisci is getting by with a little help from his friends for Givenchy‘s Spring 2013 campaign.
Asking us to choose between Balenciaga and Givenchy is usually like asking us to pick a favorite child…you know, if we had children. But at tonight’s world premiere of Les Misérables in London, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried stepped out dressed to the nines in creations by Riccardo Tisci and Nicolas Ghesquiére, and, in a strange turn of events, we weren’t particularly blown away by either look.
Fragrance reviews are silly, but sometimes, fragrance marketing is even sillier. What do “playful pastimes” and “nostalgia” really smell like? So from now on, we’ll be crowdsourcing our own fragrance reviews. Read on to find out what our office thought about the latest sample to land on our desk. This week, we’re sniffing Givenchy’s Dahlia Noir
Givenchy‘s Riccardo Tisci has been named GQ‘s Designer of the Year. As such, the Southern Italian designer is the subject of a lengthy profile in this month’s mag, which, if you remember, features a naked Rihanna on the cover.
Yesterday we got some very exciting news courtesy of the online rumor mill that Givenchy would be collaborating with H&M for a collection due out in 2013. And today, the French fashion house has responded.
Word on the street (and by “street”, we mean “the web”) is that H&M‘s next designer collaboration will be with none other than Givenchy!
We all know the ins and outs of wardrobe staples — a plain white tee, dark denim, and a timeless LBD come to mind — but the same goes for beauty. We wanted to find out the exact must-have products that our favorite fashion insiders never leave home without: the go-to goodies that instantly put a pep in our most stylish friends’ steps. This week, Glamour’s fashion editor-at-large Louise Roe gives us the deets on her favorite blush and primer.
While usually the combination of Cate Blanchett and Givenchy spells sartorial perfection, in this particular instance we’re on the fence.
