There were a serious lack of magazine covers featuring Beyoncé‘s gorgeous mug last year. But thanks to GQ, we’ve got the very first one of 2013, and it is hottt.
As a general rule, we admire the work that comes from the people at GQ. But then they go and do things like publish a list of what they think are the 40 worst-dressed cities in America, and we have no choice but to step back and say to ourselves, “Dudes. Harsh.”
GQ‘s annual Men of the Year issue always features famous guys who are given different monikers of awesomeness. This year, James Franco shines as the magazine’s Leading Man. And we certainly can’t say he doesn’t deserve it, especially given all the hard work he’s done (and the little bits of drag he’s left floating around on the Internet). But what gives us pause is the clothing — or relative lack thereof — that Franco is wearing in his cover shot. Unlike the other three formally dressed cover stars, Franco assumes a rather casual pose in a rumpled red t-shirt from Armani Exchange.
Earlier this week, we wrote a post commenting on Terry Richardson‘s porn-inspired take on Glee for GQ magazine. While we called the photos about as exciting as “week-old bread”, more than a few others — including the Parents Television Council — have called them “disturbing” and bordering on “pedophilia.” The controversy has gotten so bad that Dianna Agron wrote a post half-apologizing for the photos, and that sucks.
