Humberto Leon Page 1
Last night, we had the pleasure of listening to Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim riff with Pamela Golbin, the chief curator of fashion and textiles at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs, as a part of FIAF “Fashion Talks” series, and apart from leaving with twin urges to shop ’till we dropped and quit our jobs to pursue a wild and crazy passion project with our best friend, we learned a lot about the early days of their Howard Street store. Including the rather unconventional way they came up with its name.
Tired of sloshing through the mid-March puddles in the dreary boots you’ve been wearing all season? You’re in luck. The fruits of the collaboration between Kenzo and Vans are hitting store shelves on March 15, and we’ve got a first look at the brightly-colored kicks.
Take a break from all the Fashion Week madness with this super-creative video from Opening Ceremony, starring some seriously precious kids.
Ever since Opening Ceremony‘s Humberto Leon and Carol Lim were appointed creative directors of Kenzo this summer, we’ve been dying to see what the dynamic duo would cook up. The collection was presented in Paris today, and the pair’s good pal Chloë Sevigny closed the show.
Opening Ceremony is one of the coolest companies around, and its owners Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are equally as awesome. The two have a lot whole on their collective plate, but they’re poised to get even busier as the new creative directors of Kenzo.
Last night we forwent our plans to have a quiet night at home and headed to Opening Ceremony‘s outpost at New York’s Ace Hotel, where celebrities of every stripe assembled to fete the launch of Target‘s GO International Design Collective. We reported last month that Target would be bringing back a sort of greatest hits collection of the designer collaborations they’ve done over the years, and the dresses that will hit stores again this month were out in full force — both on display and on the fabulous people who attended the party.
Chloë Sevigny‘s latest collection for Opening Ceremony (a Styleite fave) has dropped and OC friend Spike Jonze made a mini-commercial for it. An adorable mini-commercial!
We all know Terry Richardson is a huge creep. Like, the creepiest creep. But Terry’s creepiness hasn’t stopped him from climbing the fashion photog ranks — and staying there. Just this fall alone he’s shot for French Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Reebok and GQ. While we don’t get his appeal as a photographer (the porny trope gets really old really fast), we definitely don’t understand how or why he has so many friends in the fashion industry.
Opening Ceremony is the coolest, and by extension, its owners Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are the coolest. They make an appearance in New York Magazine‘s entirely delightful “Who Runs New York?” power issue, and we’re here to break down what exactly makes them so awesome.
