Kate Upton‘s Vogue Italia cover is quite a coup for the model, and certainly gives her more street cred with the fashion pack. But she just can’t break free of the things her mama gave her, and the mag’s cover and editorial hones in on Upton’s best assets — which certainly isn’t a bad thing.
Well, Kate Upton has finally done it — the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model has landed her very first Vogue cover. The buxom blonde fronts Vogue Italia‘s November issue, which is no small fashion feat, especially for a model once deemed “too obvious” for the likes of Victoria’s Secret.
This weekend Italian Vogue editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani is hosting a series of parties for her new book in the last place most people would want to spend their days off: in her office.
In the rat race of magazine subscriptions, single-copy sales and circulation, Italian Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani comes far from finishing first. But as The Washington Post‘s Robin Givhan found out, that doesn’t make her any less powerful than Anna Wintour or Carine Roitfeld. It also doesn’t stop her from using that power to make bold statements about society — and she doesn’t really care whether or not you like what she has to say.
