Did J.Crew Steal This Leopard Print From A Fancy Dead Designer?
Normally when mid-level clothing retailers get sued for trademark infringement, the papers get served from high-end fashion houses. But last week, J.Crew got slammed with a lawsuit by none other than Tony Duquette Inc., a high-end home design, furniture and jewelry firm. The suit claims J.Crew’s leopard-print cardigan “infringed its trademarks and constituted unfair competition.”

We love J.Crew and we love sales, so putting them together is usually cause for celebration. Two things that should never be put together? Handsanded denim and the word “jumpsuit.” Oh, Jenna Lyons, how did you let this one through?

Fox News Slams J.Crew’s Jenna Lyons For Painting Her Son’s Toenails
The people at Fox News are seriously upset over a J.Crew feature that popped up on the brand’s site this weekend. In it, J.Crew’s creative director Jenna Lyons is pictured painting her son Beckett‘s toenails pink. The image is accompanied by the text, “Lucky for me, I ended up with a boy whose favorite color is pink. Toenail painting is way more fun in neon.” When we saw the ad, we thought it was adorable. That pink is really close to Styleite pink, after all. But a number of media commenters and Fox writers fear the ad might encourage children to become transgendered.

Sears And Urban Outfitters Want To Buy J.Crew
We thought that the deal to take J.Crew private was more or less done, but there are four companies giving some thought to countering TPG’s offer to buy the brand (and the entirety of its cool factor) for $3 billion. Two of those companies are private equity firms for whom such a deal might make sense. But the other two businesses in the running, Sears and Urban Outfitters, would make pretty strange bedfellows for J.Crew.

Julian Assange, What Are You Going To Wear To Court?
While the legal details of Julian Assange’s sexual harassment charges have obfuscated left and right, the fact remains that the man is going to have to go to court. And any person with common sense will tell you that a having a court date (even if it is in Sweden) means hauling out a suit and trying to look good while all of your worst fears and darkest secrets are aired right in front of your face.

But at least we know you’ll shop at New Haven’s new Gant store which is opening next month.
J.Crew Is Now Selling $1100 Ponchos
Where J.Crew goes, the rest of the mall stores follow. We love Jenna Lyons and we’re pretty sure Mickey Drexler is a genius, but we think they may have taken this J.Crew re-branding thing a little bit too far this time.
