Even if you don’t know Lorraine Kirke by name, if you’re a fan of HBO’s Girls (as we most definitely are), you’ve seen her designs play a part in some pivotal scenes. And, of course, there’s the fact that her daughter Jemima stars as the bohemian, intermittently-employed Jessa. Lorraine is the proprietor of Geminola, a treasure trove of a West Village boutique filled with a panoply of her one-of-a-kind clothing and interiors, and she filled us in on her favorite decades to plumb for inspiration, her pretty, vintage-inspired summer collection, and if any of her three daughters wore Geminola to prom. Plus, she shared a family photo of the Kirke clan snapped this Mother’s Day!
At last night’s premiere of the second season of Girls, either Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna totally coordinated their black outfits, or they’ve all come to embrace the New Yorker uniform.
With less than a week to go ’till the second season of Girls premieres on HBO, Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet sat down with Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show this morning.
We can count plenty of reasons why we we’ll be tuning in to the second season of Girls, but outfit inspiration is not exactly at the top of the list. Because while plenty of people tried to turn Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna into Sex and the City-style fashion icons last year, “aspirational” costuming was never what the show was abut.
While most ladies are swathed in maternity clothes at eight months, Girls star Jemima Kirke is just letting it all hang out for Vice.
It’s baaaaack! Well, almost.
