Since taking over the reins at Cosmopolitan this past September, Kate White‘s successor and current editor-in-chief Joanna Coles has fired nine staffers, despite saying that she was “not going to muddle” with the magazine.
Kate White stepped down as the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan this month after 14 years, and one of the things that she’s focusing on now is her new book “I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This: Success Secrets Every Gutsy Girl Should Know”. She made an appearance on TODAY, speaking with Savannah Guthrie about leaving the mag and offering bits of advice from her book.
After six years in the top spot at Marie Claire, Joanna Coles is moving on to a new role as the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan. Coles will replace outgoing editor Kate White starting September 10, though White will stay on at Hearst Magazines in a consulting role. Anne Fulenwider is moving from Brides to replace Coles at Marie Claire. Whew! Got all of that? Good.
Here’s a bit of lady magazine lore for you: Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Kate White was once featured on the cover of arch-rival Glamour.
