Katy Perry Page 1
Another day, another bit of accidental awards ceremony racism. This time the accusatory tweets are being directed at Katy Perry, who threw together a decidedly unappetizing Asian fusion mash-up for the yellowface rendition of her terrible new song ‘Unconditionally’.
Katy Perry is like a living refractor of light, sparkle and unpredictable hues that range from bright to moody, fresh and romantic to straight-up ’90s goth. This might explain why she called her latest album Prism. It might also be because prisms look nice, which they do. Especially in the form of holographic wallets, mirror-heeled shoes and light refracting jewelry.
Katy Perry is the latest spokeswoman for CoverGirl and describes her new ad as, “bold, bright, a beam of light.” We couldn’t agree more.
Katy Perry presented the biggest surprise on this year’s red carpet, by surprising us in a way we weren’t even expecting: she wore a dress we’ve already seen.
The red carpet has wound up, so let’s gear up for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards 2013 live stream.
It’s no secret that we love the ‘90s, nor that fashion’s long held an obsession with the decade of glitter jellies and overalls. Because, really, why wouldn’t you? Even Style.com’s on the bandwagon, recruiting Courtney Love to jot down her awesomely incoherent ramblings on sniffing tequila and searching for the perfect Edwardian ‘dream blouse’.
The vibe we were getting from Katy Perry’s Elle cover was an awesomely grunge-glam, fierce high fashion MySpace bedroom selfie, which is convoluted enough. But the vibe they were going for is even more of a mash-up.
While we’re still at least a week away from Christmas in August, otherwise known as the act of annexing our local magazine shop and buying the heavy and copious September issues, the covers are being unveiled on the web to whet our appetite. Many of the big reads have yet to make their debut, but we’re already seeing some extraordinary stuff.
On Friday Katy Perry admitted to Jay Leno that she deprived herself of coffee and alcohol for three whole months in preparation for her July Vogue cover. Hence why we don’t blame her for not looking very happy to front Elle UK’s September issue, which was just released this morning.
We kind of love that Katy Perry, the girl who: kissed a girl and liked it, dyed her hair Smurf blue, wore a Manish Arora Circus Carousel Dress, and brought us the frosted cupcake bra, has received the ultimate nod of approval from the ever-discerning Anna Wintour.
In one of the weirder school bullying stories we’ve read; a mom out of the UK claims that her son has had to be kept home from school because she’s a sexy retro model who sometimes impersonates Katy Perry. Huh?
Katy Perry may be known for kitschy performance getups, but for Saturday’s sing-a-long with The Rolling Stones, she toned it down and opted for a digital-print mini from Mary Katrantzou. She just… didn’t get it quite right.
Vera Wang is known for her year-round uniform of black leggings and white t-shirt, but when she does break from the norm and go black tie, she does it so, so well. What else do you expect from someone who designs confections like these for a living?
Back in 2011, when Katy Perry was promoting the original Smurfs movie, she wore a kitschy tube dress emblazoned with Smurfette‘s bedazzled likeness, Smurf-themed talons, and a mop of brassy curls. Today, while on the road for the sequel, she donned the kind of grown up frock Michelle Obama would be proud to wear. Let’s give this girl a round of applause!
When Katy Perry was tapped as the new face (hair?) of ghd in 2011, we all were like, “That makes total sense!” Well, that’s no longer the case according to recent reports from Perry’s camp. Take a look at some of her wackier styles and see if you think they’re to blame.
The power of celebrity can’t be denied when it comes to drumming up funds and media attention for a cause, and one organization is pulling out all the stops to get their message out.
Business is booming for the nail polish industry, more from the Producers Guild Awards, and a fresh new face for Blumarine’s youth-targeted line.
Katy Perry‘s had some recent red carpet hits, and we’re adding her Marchesa number at last night’s Trevor Live fête to the growing list. The beaded gown made for an elegant look, and the nude hue upped the sex appeal. Unfortunately, other celebs didn’t own the the carpet in quite the same way.
