Seeing as New York is consistently topping 90 degrees before noon, this week’s pretty much a write-off in terms of personal appearance. But celebrities don’t get to play the heatwave card, and have to resort to cooling techniques that don’t involve partial nudity or iced coffee cups glued to the face. So we’ve gotta hand it to Kristen Wiig et al. for proving there is indeed a way.
Last night’s red carpets brought sheer shirts, ill-advised jumpsuits, and tragic floral muumuus. Need some tips on what not to wear this weekend? Here are some pretty good ideas.
Last night’s Costume Designers Guild Awards provided a much needed dose of red carpet glam after two consecutive nights of subpar looks. Anne Hathaway, Amy Poehler, Ashley Madekwe and more all showed up in Beverly Hills in some chic wares, and we’ve got it all right here.
Before we go any further, let’s just acknowledge that Marion Cotillard had the best look of the night. Draped in a scarlet Dior (surprise!) dress custom designed for her by Raf Simons, the Dark Knight Rises star managed to look modern, natural, and drop-dead gorgeous in one sleek fell swoop. But that isn’t to say she wasn’t given a run for her money on the evening’s red carpet.
The fashions at Elle‘s Women In Hollywood Celebration last night were quite a treat, and leading ladies like Emma Stone, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Jessica Parker, and more worked the red carpet in some amazing ensembles.
As much as we’re dreading this year’s Fashion’s Night Out, we were pretty amazed at its new PSA. It failed to hype us up for FNO, but it did make us giggle. The normal fashion crew of Marc Jacobs, Karlie Kloss, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Paré, and Solange Knowles make appearances in the video. But wait, hold the phone — is that Tyson Chandler?? Yeah, he’s in it too! And why is Darren Criss singing a Madonna song?
Funny woman Kristen Wiig is Marie Claire‘s August cover girl. So is her right boob. Hey there.
Au revoir, Kristen Wiig! You will be sorely missed.
Patricia Krentcil, the mother accused of bringing her 5-year-old daughter into a tanning booth with her, has been one of our weirder obsessions this past week.
Despite the small number of fashion folk on the Time‘s 100 Most Influential People list this year, last night’s red carpet was quite stylish.
Lindsay Lohan may have hosted Saturday Night Live, but it was Kristen Wiig who stole the show. Did you see her as a drunk Cinderella on The Real Housewives of Disney?!
Kristen Wiig’s nude dress-with-black choker look at this year’s Golden Globes was largely panned, but it turns out there was a method to her madness.
Say what you will about Zooey Deschanel‘s twee brand of Manic Pixie Dream Girl. The actress-singer-blogger-crafter knows how to poke fun at herself.
The SAG Awards red carpet was a total disaster — the looks were bad, boring or both.
We learned two things about Kristen Wiig from Sunday night’s SAG Awards red carpet: she likes wearing dresses that match her skintone and eschews the age-old style rule that encourages one to take something off before leaving the house.
It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Kristen Wiig‘s Target Lady, the overenthusiastic cashier you hope you never have to interact with. Well, she’s baaaaaackkkk!
This was the week Karlie Kloss spoke about her Vogue Italia photos and Lindsay Lohan‘s Playboy spread leaked. This was also the week we got a double dose of Chloë Sevigny, attended some fancy parties, and saw the unveiling of the Pirelli calendar.
We have a total lady crush on Kristen Wiig. (Though, really, who doesn’t?)
To be honest: we were fairly disappointed with Sunday night’s red carpet showing. It was pretty, sure, but basically, we were very, very bored. That said, even the most snoozey awards show has its standouts, and tonight was no exception. From a CW star to an Oscar winner, from Oscar de la Renta to new-to-us Lebanese designer George Hobeika, these six ladies stole the sartorial show.
Movies (unless they’re full of Rodarte) aren’t exactly our beat, but one thing is for sure: we can’t wait for the Kristen Wiig written, Judd Apatow produced Bridesmaids to come out. Though it’s being marketed as The Hangover but, you know, for women (because movies are usually an either/or sort of thing), Bridesmaids looks hilarious, smart, and decidedly original. Turns out the folks at Harper’s Bazaar feel the same way, as they gave the film’s leading ladies a spread in their May issue.
