Let’s just say Lady Gaga isn’t likely to join Kate Bosworth and Zooey Deschanel as the next spokesperson for cotton. Her taste in textiles, after all, tends to veer more towards such practical materials as meat. And now, hair! Purple hair, to be exact.
People were celebrating all around the world this past weekend. Canada day, 4th of July, Lady Gaga day. That’s right- Taiwan was so excited for the singer’s tour of the island that they proclaimed July 3rd Lady Gaga day, and they threw quite the celebration!
If there’s one thing we know with complete metaphysical certitude, it’s that no one will ever be able to fully explain Lady Gaga. It’s just not going to happen. So when a group of kids were asked to react to that video of her eating David Letterman‘s question cards, of course the results were going to be entertaining and enlightening.
Lady Gaga‘s shoes have always been crazy, but the pair she wore to give advice to the final four contestants on American Idol this week were downright … well, they looked like penises.
Lady Gaga‘s “Judas” video made us like the song itself even more, due in large part to the amazing costumes and props (LIPSTICK GUN!). We noted that some people might find it controversial — you know, haters gonna hate and all that. What’s a Gaga to do? Fire back with one of our favorite quotes of the week.
If Lady Gaga‘s assemblage of musical and artistic references seems like they’re a tad random at times, her profile in the March issue of Vogue magazine confirms that they’re anything but. Gaga’s image is controlled and even studied — and when it comes to fashion, her look is as raw and as hand-crafted as her music. And how? She pays for her clothes (yes, even the meat dress) herself.
As long as Gaga wears crazy stuff across the pond, we’ll continue to document it! Following a stint as Cruella de Vil, she’s been rocking a platinum bob as of late, as well as a bit of a subdued wardrobe (well, we suppose that’s all relative when we’re talking about Gaga). Do you like Gaga’s London looks?
In a break from her usually stellar ability to wear 8-inch McQueen-esque heels, Lady Gaga took a spill outside of London’s Heathrow Airport this morning.
We brought you the video and the details from Gaga’s stylist, Nicola Formichetti, and now, we bring you some insight into Alejandro from the man who would know best — aside from Gaga herself — the video’s director, Steven Klein.
At this point, the subject of Lady Gaga’s brilliant, bizarre, and baffling wardrobe has almost been exhausted. Or at least it’s no surprise that she is constantly surprising us. Predicting a Gaga outfit, I would even say, is like predicting the weather three years in advance. Maybe it’s for this very reason that the other day it struck me, in a flash, that I have no idea what Lady Gaga actually looks like.
Talk about being upstaged. Just a day after the release of her latest video, Alejandro, Lady Gaga joined the real world for a moment to attend her younger sister’s high school graduation. The Gags showed up to New York City’s Convent of the Sacred Heart — her own alma mater — in a white lace pant suit and of course, a face-obstructing black veiled hat.
We’re only hours away from Glee’s Lady Gaga episode and in anticipation, we’ve been blasting some of our favorite Fame Monster hits and thumbing through photos of her most memorable fashion moments. Luckily, InStyle.com snagged an interview with the show’s costume designer Lou Eyrich who talked Gaga and Glee.
Just when we think we’ve learned all there is to know about the Fame Monster, Lady Gaga goes and does an interview with the Times of London that is so in depth, so endearing, and so utterly fabulous that we’ve already skipped our Saturday morning yoga class to read all 5,000 words of it and excerpt our favorite parts here. Some tidbits: Lady Gaga addresses those Met Gala rumors head on, pees through her fishnets, and talks openly and candidly about her aunt’s death from lupus — a genetic and often fatal autoimmune disease.
To be honest we thought Gaga‘s plate was totally full — what with the requisite hourly costume changes and outfit brainstorming sessions, not to mention the effort that it must take to walk a centimeter in those ubiquitous hoof shoes. Anyway, it seems being the world’s most notorious fame monster wasn’t enough — Gaga’s now out to conquer the glamourous world of millinery.
For those of you that dream of sitting Gaga down for an hour or two, your lucky day is here! According to Vogue UK, Lady Gaga is next in line to shoot SHOWstudio.com’s In Camera segment. In Camera, which has previously featured fashion greats such as Alexander McQueen and Kate Moss, will broadcast an interview with Gaga, which they claim will be “unique” and “unedited.”
Nicola Formichetti is a stylist, but he’s also an artist, a visionary, and, most importantly, an original. Few people in the industry take risks with the ease and assuredness that Formichetti does. Also, it doesn’t hurt that his main client is Lady Gaga, a personality equally unafraid of going against the grain.
Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s long-awaited “Telephone” video is finally here and just as we’d all hoped, it’s a fashion explosion. We don’t doubt that this video will make waves in the industry and so, we bring to you the five biggest and best trends the video is sure to inspire.
